  1. My dad John Harold Honeycutt was assigned to the USSHornet until it was sunk at the Battle of Santa Cruz. He was the tail gunner and radioman in a SB2 dive Bomber. Was in the Battle of Midway, Coral Sea, airborne at Guadalcanal and airborne in battle when the Hornet sank( or was scuttled), a sad day for the men and women who built the ship and for the sailors that called it home. He received. 2 air combat medals and numerous other medals for his service as a navy Warrior. That’s the only word that aptly describes those brave men. God Bless you Daddy, Rest in Peace and know you served our country well and helped our country that was founded on freedom and Gods word. My oldest brother James Harold Honeycutt was named so for a man I think he admired. James Harold Doolittle. My brother served in USArmy 10th special forces group. 1968-1971. I served in the us Navy 1969-1973, my younger brother served in the Army reserve, 1970-1976. We are all very proud of what a warrior my father was. Much respect to all the WW2 and all military veterans that earned an honorable discharge. My father served the rest of his military time attached to the US Enterprise where he served well and was injured in a landing in rough seas. He served his time out and was given a disability when he left.
