    1. Bruce, in the actual article, the caption DOES read Northwest Airways, Inc. What you are looking at is NOT the caption in the article, but the Image Title Attribute. HOWEVER. TDiA’s research indicates that, while the company was founded to fly the U.S. Mail in 1926 under the name Northwest Airways, Inc., when it transitioned to flying passengers, the name was changed to Northwest Airlines. That took place in 1934. This article is about the first flight of the Lockheed Model 10 Electra, 24 February 1934. The prototype was sold to Northwest in May. If you look closely this image, you will see that the company logo painted on the fuselage reads “NORTHWEST AIRLINES INC.”
