I learned to fly at Birmingham (UK) airport in 1984/85, shortly before it was enlarged and modernised. I visited the (then small) control tower and the guy on duty was Canadian, physically quite badly disabled. He was ex-RCAF and used to fly the F101 Voodoo. He was severely injured when the plane he was flying crashed. Sadly, I can’t remember exactly what he told me caused the accident. I always thought the Voodoo looked like a “hot-ship”, can’t imagine doing a deadstick landing in one of those! Although I expect someone has.

Graet story Bryan! Major General Edwards passed away in 2021. His obituary is beautifully written and includes a detailed tribute to his life.
