  1. Actually, it was Weltman’s wingman Lt. Elza E. Shahan that shot down the Condor with the assistance of P-40 pilot Lt. Joseph D. Shaffer.

    1. Yes, as is stated in the article, “Lieutenants Shaffer and Shahan both shared credit for the victory. They were awarded the Silver Star for their actions.”
